Weak non-linear influences of biotic and abiotic factors on invasive macrophyte occurrence

Jonathan P. Fleming et al.

Summary: Aquatic plants are important in freshwater ecosystems, but invasive species can negatively impact ecosystem properties. This study investigated factors influencing invasion and found that biotic resistance, exposure, and water depth interact to influence invasive species occurrence, though models only explained a small percentage of variation. Strong predictive principles governing macrophyte invasions may not exist across different ecosystem types and conditions.
