The effectiveness of ornamental building materials (tiles) for retrospective thermoluminescence dosimetry

Sabina Yasmin et al.

Summary: Tiles, like other decorative building materials, not only add beauty and luxury to buildings, but can also be used for radiation dosimetry. This study investigated the thermoluminescence properties of seven common tile samples and found that White Horse tiles are suitable for emergency thermoluminescence dosimetry in the dose range of 0.5-100 Gy.

Impact of dosimeter size on energy dependence: An experimental study on glass TLDs

F. Moradi et al.

Summary: The practical use of a dosimeter requires identifying the radiation field and its energy response. This study aims to measure the energy dependence of submillimeter size glass silica fibre thermoluminescent dosimeters and explore the relationship between energy dependence and dosimeter size. The findings indicate that there is an increasing degree of energy dependence with smaller dosimeter sizes.

Studies of thermoluminescence kinetic parameters of polymer pencil lead graphite under photon exposures

Mayeen Uddin Khandaker et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the thermoluminescence (TL) glow curves of the polymer pencil lead graphite (PPLG) to determine the physical parameters of defects and the lifetime of TL process. Different methods were used to fit TL glow peaks of PPLG samples with varying diameters, and the results were compared to discuss implications about possible deconvolution of glow curves.

The potential of decorative building materials (marble) for retrospective thermoluminescence dosimetry

Sabina Yasmin et al.

Summary: In this study, six types of commonly used marble stones were analyzed for their thermoluminescence properties and it was found that the imported marble 'Carrara' from Italy has relatively better capability for radiation dose reconstruction in the range of 10-50 Gy, remaining reliable for up to four weeks post exposure. The Z(eff) values of the various marble samples also compare favorably with TLD-200 for low-level environmental radiation dosimetry.

Graphite sheets in study of radiation dosimetry and associated investigations of damage

D. A. Bradley et al.

Summary: This study investigated the use of graphite-rich polymer pencil-lead for radiation dosimetry, focusing on the relationship between absorbed radiation energy and induced material changes. The results showed radiation-driven thermal annealing and structural alterations, supporting previous studies and suggesting potential applications in sensitive radiation damage detection. The low-cost and highly effective system using thin graphite sheets may be useful for studying radiation-induced changes in carbon and determining skin dose.
