Enhancing the thermal responsivity of microelectromechanical system beam resonators by preloading a critical buckling strain

Boqi Qiu et al.

Summary: By introducing a prescribed amount of compressive strain, we have achieved a significant enhancement in the thermal responsivities of MEMS beam resonators, reaching a critical buckling point with a 16 times higher responsivity. This approach provides a way to circumvent the trade-off between detection speeds and responsivities, achieving higher responsivities without deteriorating detection speed.

Optomechanical temporal sampling of terahertz signals

Baptiste Chomet et al.

Summary: The research presents an alternative detection scheme for terahertz signals based on an optomechanical detector, combining a split-ring resonator and a mechanical resonator to read arbitrary periodic modulations on terahertz beams. Two Fourier sampling methods for the envelope of the terahertz signal are demonstrated, utilizing the mechanical resonator as a reference oscillator.
