Optical band gap tailoring of muscovite mica via monolayer modification by ultra-low energy ion beam sputtering

Dipak Bhowmik et al.

Summary: In this study, band gap tailoring of naturally available muscovite mica was achieved by ultra-low energy Ar+ ion sputtering. The results showed a significant reduction in band gap with increasing ion doses, indicating the semiconducting nature of the mica surface. Optical responses and band gap calculations further supported the band gap narrowing, and surface morphology studies revealed structural changes on the ion modified mica surfaces.

Projectile mass dependent nano patterning and optical band gap tailoring of muscovite mica

Dipak Bhowmik et al.

Summary: The research shows the formation of ripple-like structures and decrease in optical band gap on the surface of multi-elemental muscovite mica under different energy ion bombardments. Ar+ ion bombardment causes significant erosion of potassium atoms on the surface, leading to a reduction in band gap, with UV-VIS-IR data showing a decrease from 3.6 eV to 1.8 eV.

Effect of sputtering pressure on the optical and electrical properties of ITO film on fluorphlogopite substrate

Hai Zhang et al.

Summary: This study focused on the preparation of ITO film samples on fluorphlogopite substrate using magnetron sputtering technique and adjusting the sputtering pressure. The results showed that the crystal grains of the samples decreased significantly with the increase in pressure, and samples synthesized below 3 Pa exhibited significant changes in light transmittance and resistivity. The flexibility of the samples was characterized by bending them 1200 times around a steel cylinder, with minimal change in sheet resistance.
