Polyhydroxybutyrate production from dark-fermentative effluent and composite grafting with bagasse derived α-cellulose in a biorefinery approach

A. Naresh Kumar et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the preparation of a biocomposite using waste-derived polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) and bagasse cellulose (alpha-cellulose) in a biorefinery approach. By inducing microbial PHB accumulation through nutrient limitation and grafting alpha-cellulose with PHB, the thermal stability of the biocomposite was enhanced. The incorporation of bagasse-derived cellulose for strengthening biologically produced PHB expands its applications and addresses plastic pollution issues.
