Fully exposed edge/corner active sites in Fe substituted-Ni(OH)2 tube-in-tube arrays for efficient electrocatalytic oxygen evolution

Zi-Xiao Shi et al.

Summary: This study transformed amorphous Ni(OH)2 into short-range ordered Fe-substituted Ni(OH)2 with abundant electroactive edge/corner sites, and fabricated tube-in-tube arrays (TTAs) to enhance OER performance. Phosphorus doped nickel-molybdenum aerogel for efficient overall water splitting

Bing Zhang et al.

Summary: A P-doped Ni-Mo bimetal aerogel (Ni-Mo-P) was developed as a cost-effective bifunctional water splitting electrocatalyst, demonstrating impressive HER and OER performance with low overpotentials. This was attributed to electron redistribution by Mo alloying and P doping, as well as optimal bond strength between H* and active sites. The Ni-Mo-P catalyst required a low cell voltage to achieve an overall water splitting current density of 10 mA cm-2.

Various metal (Fe, Mo, V, Co)-doped Ni2P nanowire arrays as overall water splitting electrocatalysts and their applications in unassisted solar hydrogen production with STH 14 %

Hyogyun Roh et al.

Summary: Metal phosphide nanowires grown directly on porous electrodes show enhanced catalytic activity for water splitting. Fe-doped Ni2P nanowires exhibit the best oxygen evolution reaction performance, while Mo-doped Ni2P nanowires show excellent hydrogen evolution reaction activity. DFT calculations support the experimental results, and combining NiMoP/NiFeP for overall water splitting requires a low potential of 1.57 V to generate 10 mA cm-2 current density. The assembled PV-EC system achieves a high solar-to-hydrogen conversion efficiency of 14%.

Synthesis of MoSx/Ni-metal-organic framework-74 composites as efficient electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reactions

Ha Huu Do et al.

Summary: A facile strategy was developed to fabricate efficient catalysts by incorporating amorphous molybdenum sulfide (MoSx) and Ni-metal-organic framework (MOF)-74 via a solvothermal process, resulting in excellent hydrogen generation performance in acidic media. The stability of the catalyst was maintained for over 2000 cycles with a slight shift in performance, indicating that the MoSx/Ni-MOF-74 composite is a promising candidate for non-expensive catalysts for hydrogen production using the electrochemical method.
