Late results of aortic valve repair for isolated severe aortic regurgitation

Saadallah Tamer et al.

Summary: The objectives of this study were to analyze the long-term outcomes of tricuspid aortic valve repair for isolated severe aortic regurgitation and the impact of different annuloplasty techniques. The study found that aortic valve repair for isolated severe aortic regurgitation in the tricuspid aortic valve is a safe procedure, and the durability at 14 years is acceptable.

A progress report on reimplantation of the aortic valve

Tirone E. David et al.

Summary: The study examined the late outcomes of 465 patients who underwent RAV surgery, showing that RAV provides excellent long-term results, but there is a progressive rate of AI over time and patients with BAV may develop aortic stenosis. Patients with genetic syndromes have a risk of distal aortic dissections. Continued surveillance after RAV is necessary.

Summary: Comparing the Cabrol annuloplasty and valve sparing Reimplantation techniques for bicuspid aortic valve repair, the study found significant differences favoring the Reimplantation technique in long-term durability, but no differences in overall survival between the two groups.

Two decades of valve-sparing root reimplantation in tricuspid aortic valve: impact of aortic regurgitation and cusp repair

Saadallah Tamer et al.

Summary: The study examined the impact of preoperative aortic regurgitation on cusp repair necessity, finding that the repair rate increased with the severity of AR. While preoperative AR and cusp repair did not affect long-term survival and aortic valve reoperation, severe preoperative AR and multiple cusp repairs increased the risk of recurrent moderate-to-severe AR.
