Bursting bubbles and the formation of gas jets and vortex rings

Ali A. Dasouqi et al.

Summary: Bubble bursting releases pressurized gas, with jet speed depending on the size of the parent bubble - smaller bubbles produce slower jets while larger bubbles produce faster jets. The jets roll up to form vortex rings of different types, with varying travel distances and growth rates. Additionally, a simple scaling relationship between gas jet Reynolds number and the square root of the parent bubble Bond number is proposed.

Rayleigh-Plateau instability of anisotropic interfaces. Part 1. An analytical and numerical study of fluid interfaces

Katharina Graessel et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of anisotropy on the Rayleigh-Plateau instability mechanism under various surface tension conditions. It reveals the significant impact of anisotropy on the dominant wavelength of instability, as well as the formation of satellite droplets under anisotropic tension. The research combines analytical linear stability analysis with numerical simulations to explore the effects of different tension scenarios on instability behavior.
