Effects of Clostridium butyricum on growth performance, metabonomics and intestinal microbial differences of weaned piglets

Jing Liang et al.

Summary: The study found that feeding piglets with C. butyricum did not significantly affect their growth performance or incidence of diarrhea during the experimental period. Analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequencing results showed that the CB group had significantly increased microbial diversity compared to the NC group. Furthermore, the addition of C. butyricum led to significant changes in fecal metabolites, particularly involving pathways related to citrulline, dicarboxylic acids, branched-chain amino acids, and tryptophan metabolism.

Phenotypic features and analysis of genes supporting probiotic action unravel underlying perspectives of Bacillus velezensis VTX9 as a potential feed additive for swine

Ngoc Tung Quach et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the probiotic properties of Bacillus velezensis VTX9 through genotypic and phenotypic analysis, revealing its safety and potential as a probiotic candidate for swine farming. Genome analysis showed no genes encoding enterotoxins and transferable antibiotic resistance in VTX9, highlighting its safety profile. Additionally, the presence of genes involved in gastrointestinal stress tolerance and the production of riboflavin and exopolysaccharides further supported its probiotic traits.
