Ru-Catalyzed [3+2] Cycloaddition of Nitrile Oxides and Electron-Rich Alkynes with Reversed Regioselectivity

Qiang Feng et al.

Summary: Polarity reversal can change the reactivity of functional groups, leading to different bond-forming modes. By using a ruthenium catalyst, nitrile oxides can exhibit reversed regioselectivity, resulting in the formation of useful compounds.

Ynamides as Three-Atom Components in Cycloadditions: An Unexplored Chemical Reaction Space

Dominic Campeau et al.

Summary: Ynamides can serve as neutral TACs in thermally induced intramolecular (3+2) cycloaddition reactions with alkynes, yielding a variety of functionalized pyrroles. The transformation proceeds via an intermediacy of a pyrrolium ylide, resulting in the formation of a neutral pyrrole with great potential in heterocyclic chemistry. This work demonstrates an unexplored facet of ynamide reactivity.
