High-Capacitance Pseudocapacitors from Li+ Ion Intercalation in Nonporous, Electrically Conductive 2D Coordination Polymers

Harish Banda et al.

Summary: A new nonporous coordination polymer, Ni-3(benzenehexathiolate) (Ni3BHT), with high electrical conductivity of over 500 S/m, has been reported in this study. When used as an electrode in nonaqueous electrolytes, Ni3BHT exhibits excellent specific capacitances through a mechanism of pseudocapacitive ion intercalation. This demonstration of pseudocapacitive ion intercalation in nonporous coordination polymers provides motivation for exploring this material family for high-energy pseudocapacitors.
