Atmospheric pressure ionization for gas chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry determination of polychlorinated naphthalenes in marine sediments

J. F. Ayala-Cabrera et al.

Summary: In this study, the performance of APCI and APPI were evaluated for the determination of PCNs in sediment samples using GC-HRMS. The comparison of the two API sources led to the selection of GC-APPI(+)-HRMS (Orbitrap) as the most effective method. The method showed great detection capabilities, low method limits of detection, and good precision and trueness for analyzing PCNs in environmental samples.

Optimization and Validation of the GC/FID Method for the Quantification of Fatty Acids in Bee Products

Laurynas Jarukas et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the total fatty acid concentration in four bee products collected from Lithuania. Through optimization of derivatization parameters and using the GC-FID method, it was found that the highest total yield of fatty acids was obtained using the conventional heating process at 70 degrees C for 90 minutes. Excellent linearity and accuracy were achieved under optimal conditions, making it suitable for qualitative analysis of fatty acids in bee products.

A Validated Method for Quantification of Fatty Acids Incorporated in Human Plasma Phospholipids by Gas Chromatography-Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry

Hans-F Schoett et al.

Summary: This study developed and validated a gas chromatography-triple quadrupole mass selective detection method for absolute quantification of fatty acids in human plasma phospholipids, allowing direct comparison of individual fatty acid concentrations and monitoring of C-13-labeled tracers. Results from both methods showed high comparability of FA concentrations and the method's accuracy and reproducibility were confirmed through full validation. Improved specificity and sensitivity were achieved using this GC-TQMS method, demonstrating its potential in human isotope enrichment studies.

Assessment of Fatty Acid-Specific Lipolysis by In Vitro Digestion and GC-FID

Judit Tormasi et al.

Summary: This study proposed an analytical protocol for routine assessment of the bioaccessibility of fatty acids in food, and evaluated the extent of lipolysis using in vitro digestion simulation methods. The results showed significant differences in the distribution of different fatty acids between the original food and the digesta. The use of gastric lipase in the digestion simulation protocol resulted in a 9.5% increase in total fatty acid release, with the most prominent impact on palmitic acid.
