Efficient photothermal and photodynamic synergistic antibacterial therapy of Cu7S4 nanosheets regulated by facet engineering

Summary: The surface arrangements of nanomaterials can regulate their electronic structure, and in this study, Cu7S4 nanosheets with different exposed facets were synthesized and their antibacterial activity was measured. The Cu7S4 nanosheets with (224) exposed facet exhibited excellent antibacterial activity through synergetic photodynamic and photothermal therapy against various bacteria under near-infrared light irradiation. The findings provide an efficient antibacterial strategy and advance the method of designing highly effective antibacterial nanomaterials through facet engineering.
