Comparative DFT dual gas adsorption model of ZnO and Ag/ZnO with experimental applications as gas detection at ppb level

Utkarsh Kumar et al.

Summary: The sensing capability and mechanism of ZnO NRs and Ag/ZnO NRs towards toxic gases (O-3 and NO2) were comparatively studied in this research through experimental and theoretical calculations. The results show that the response and adsorption rate towards the gases change significantly when ZnO NRs are grown on Ag NPs. The theoretical calculations are in good agreement with the experimental data.

In situ growth of ternary metal sulfide based quantum dots to detect dual gas at extremely low levels with theoretical investigations

Utkarsh Kumar et al.

Summary: This paper explores the advantage of ternary metal sulfides in detecting various gases at extremely low concentrations. An ultrafine TiO2/PbSnS thin film was fabricated using the SILAR method and demonstrated effective sensing of CO and NO2. Advanced material characterization techniques revealed high-quality PbSnS nanoparticles and the sensor exhibited excellent sensing performance for both gases at room temperature.

One dimensional Au-ZnO hybrid nanostructures based CO2 detection: Growth mechanism and role of the seed layer on sensing performance

Marisol Gonzalez-Garnica et al.

Summary: In this study, hybrid Au-ZnO one-dimensional nanostructures were grown on silicon substrates using different catalytic gold films, showing the significant impact of seed layers on the growth and morphology of nanostructures. The research also investigated the gas sensing performance of these structures in response to CO2, providing insights into the VLS and VS growth mechanisms and potential applications in green transition frameworks.

Enhanced sensitivity of self-powered NO2 gas sensor to sub-ppb level using triboelectric effect based on surface-modified PDMS and 3D-graphene/CNT network

Hoang Si Hong et al.

Summary: A self-powered contact electrification based flexible NO2 gas sensor has been developed, showing high sensitivity and stability in detecting low concentrations of NO2 gas in the ppb range. By utilizing graphene and 3D-graphene/CNT contact, the sensor is able to achieve high open circuit voltages in an environment with 40-45% humidity.
