Photoresponsive Vaccine-Like CAR-M System with High-Efficiency Central Immune Regulation for Inflammation-Related Depression

Yu Liu et al.

Summary: Microglia-induced neuroinflammation is crucial in the development of depression. Researchers have developed a light-responsive system called UZPM, which can be introduced into macrophages and targeted to centrally activated microglia. Experimental results show that the CAR-M-UZPM drug delivery system can efficiently penetrate the blood-brain barrier, inhibit the M1 polarization of microglia, and prevent the occurrence and development of inflammation-related depression.

Precision Conjugation: An Emerging Tool for Generating Protein-Polymer Conjugates

Xinyu Liu et al.

Summary: Protein-polymer conjugates are increasingly used in biomedicine due to their unique combination of biological activity and multifunctionality. A new precision conjugation approach offers a more controlled and efficient way to construct next-generation protein-polymer conjugates, with a focus on site-specific in situ growth and intrinsically disordered polypeptide fusion. Challenges associated with this emerging concept are also discussed.

An update into the medicinal chemistry of translocator protein (TSPO) ligands

Elisabetta Barresi et al.

Summary: TSPO, a well-conserved protein in cells, plays crucial roles in cell functions and is associated with various diseases. High TSPO expression is linked to cancer, neuroinflammation, and brain injury, while low TSPO expression is associated with anxiety disorders. Therefore, TSPO is not only a potential drug target but also an effective diagnostic marker for related diseases.

MiR-3064 in Epicardial Adipose-Derived Exosomes Targets Neuronatin to Regulate Adipogenic Differentiation of Epicardial Adipose Stem Cells

Wenkai Yang et al.

Summary: The study found that CAHD patients had higher levels of EASCs in EAT, and EAT-derived exosomes from CAHD patients inhibited the adipogenic differentiation of EASCs, possibly through the inhibition of Nnat expression by miR-3064-5p.

Optimal therapeutic adropin dose intervention in mice and rat animal models: A systematic review

Foad Alzoughool et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to identify the ideal adropin dose in mice and rat animal models. The results showed that a daily injection of 450 nmol/kg of adropin for 3 days might be considered the optimum dose in mice, while an injection of 2.1 mu g/kg once a day for 10 successive days might be the optimal effective dose in rats. Further investigations are needed to determine the optimal dose of adropin for therapeutic intervention depending on the animal model.

Adropin: a hepatokine modulator of vascular function and cardiac fuel metabolism

Bellina A. S. Mushala et al.

Summary: Adropin, a peptide hormone primarily secreted by the liver, plays a regulatory role in metabolic homeostasis across various tissues. It is increasingly recognized as a key component in cardiovascular pathologies, potentially influencing cardiac fuel metabolism and vascular function. Targeting adropin-related signaling pathways may hold therapeutic promise in managing cardiovascular diseases.

Impairment of renal steroidogenesis at the onset of diabetes

Melina A. Pagotto et al.

Summary: Evidence suggests a link between changes in circulating sex steroid hormone levels and diabetic nephropathy development, yet the renal synthesis of steroid hormones during diabetes remains unclear. Experimental findings in rats show that early diabetes inhibits renal steroid synthesis, leading to reduced local production of pregnenolone and progesterone, prompting further research on the potential role of nephrosteroids in diabetes-related kidney damage.

The Clinical Value of Serum Adropin Level in Early Detection of Diabetic Nephropathy

Ali Es-haghi et al.

Summary: The study found that serum adropin levels were significantly lower in diabetic patients with nephropathy compared to those without nephropathy and healthy controls. Additionally, serum adropin levels were negatively correlated with the risk of developing diabetic nephropathy and may serve as a biomarker for early detection of the condition.
