Current treatment strategies for symptomatic vitreous opacities

Edwin H. Ryan

Summary: Symptomatic vitreous opacities are a significant burden to patient well-being, with vitrectomy or laser treatment being increasingly used to address the issue. While studies show significant improvement postvitrectomy, concerns remain about the risks associated with surgery.

Evaluation of Available Online Information Regarding Treatment for Vitreous Floaters

Meghana Kalavar et al.

Summary: The quality, content, and readability of online information on vitreous floater treatment varies. While nearly two thirds of websites discuss treatment, less than a quarter mention possible complications, and treatment recommendations differ based on physician training.

Development of an In Vitro Blink Model for Ophthalmic Drug Delivery

Chau-Minh Phan et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to develop an advanced in vitro blink model to examine the release of various components from soft contact lenses. The model successfully simulated tear fluid flow, eyewear materials, and contact lens absorption, providing results that were more accurate than traditional static vial incubation models. Additionally, the study found that different types of contact lenses released dye at varying rates, with one type exhibiting sustained release both in a vial and in the eye model.

3D printing of biomedically relevant polymer materials and biocompatibility

Joseph Rey H. Sta. Agueda et al.

Summary: Research on polymer materials for additive manufacturing in biomedical applications is promising but faces challenges related to biocompatibility. Changes during 3D printing processes can negatively impact the compatibility of the final product. This study focuses on additives and processes that affect biocompatibility during and after 3D printing of polymer materials.
