Engineered defects to modulate the phonon thermal conductivity of Silicene: A nonequilibrium molecular dynamics study

Md. Habibur Rahman et al.

Summary: Silicene has drawn significant attention for its excellent electronic and thermal properties. This study utilized simulations to investigate the thermal conductivity of silicene, showing that both carbon doping and increasing temperature can significantly reduce its thermal conductivity. Vacancy defects also play a role in regulating the thermal conductivities of silicene.

Intrinsic mechanical properties of monolayer nickel ditelluride: An atomistic study

Md Faiyaz Jamil et al.

Summary: In this study, the mechanical properties and fracture mechanism of 2D NiTe2 were investigated using classical molecular dynamics simulations. NiTe2's layered atomic structure is regulated by brittle failure, with the 1T structure exhibiting lower material strength than the 1H structure. Chirality has a greater impact on fracture strain than fracture stress, and NiTe2 shows greater fracture strain in the zigzag loading direction. Temperature and defect density were found to decrease material's fracture stress and strain, while they increase with strain rate. The fracture mechanism of both structures of monolayer NiTe2 was extensively demonstrated.
