A Brief History of Colour, the Environmental Impact of Synthetic Dyes and Removal by Using Laccases

Leidy D. Ardila-Leal et al.

Summary: This article briefly delves into the history of color in social and artistic contexts, highlighting the importance of natural and synthetic dyes and their impact on the environment through the discharge of colored wastewater. The utility of laccase in treating colored wastewater before its release into water bodies is emphasized, with a focus on the stability, production factors, and biotechnological impact of laccases in removing color from contaminated water.

Adsorption of Acid Blue 92 Dye from Aqueous Solutions by Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes: Isothermal, Kinetic, and Thermodynamic Studies

Davoud Balarak et al.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption of Acid Blue 92 dye onto single-walled carbon nanotubes. The optimum removal efficiency of 99.4% was achieved under specific conditions, with the adsorption following pseudo-second order kinetics and Langmuir isotherm models. Thermodynamic analysis indicated that the process was spontaneous and endothermic, with the adsorption mechanism primarily involving various bonding interactions and the hydrophobic effect. The results suggest that SWCNTs are effective adsorbents for removing AB92 from industrial effluents and wastewater.

Evaluation of Cationic Methylene Blue Dye Removal by High Surface Area Mesoporous Activated Carbon Derived from Ulva lactuca

Ahmed El Nemr et al.

Summary: Mesoporous nano-activated carbon was prepared from green algae Ulva lactuca using zinc chloride impregnation as the activation process. The obtained activated carbon has high carbon content, specific surface area, pore volume, and average pore diameter. The adsorption properties of the activated carbon were tested using Methylene blue dye, showing effective adsorption capacity and high correlation with Langmuir and pseudo-second-order models. Multiple adsorption-desorption cycles showed minimal loss of dye-adsorption capacities.
