Eye tracking and tourism research: A systematic literature review

Georgiana-Denisse Savin et al.

Summary: This study aims to fill the gap in the systematic review of recent findings on the use of eye tracking technique in tourism research. By analyzing 70 research papers, the study identifies popular topics, trends, and types of visual stimuli in eye tracking research, while also emphasizing the specific measurements and theoretical and practical implications of eye tracking data analysis. Additionally, the study highlights the lack of utilization of dynamic stimuli in the current literature and suggests future research directions utilizing eye tracking technique.

Emotional Dissonance Among Frontline Hospitality Employees: An Exploratory Study Examining Habituation Theory Using fMRI

Woosik Danny Choi et al.

Summary: This exploratory study analyzed emotional dissonance among frontline hospitality employees using fMRI to observe brain responses to customer incivility, finding significant habituation in the frontline hospitality employees' brain regions of interest. Despite no significant differences in survey data on life/occupational stress between frontline hospitality and nonhospitality employees, the fMRI analysis revealed important distinctions in brain responsiveness.

Emotion Measurement in Tourism Destination Marketing: A Comparative Electroencephalographic and Behavioral Study

Marcel Bastiaansen et al.

Summary: This study recorded emotional responses to destination pictures before and after participants watched a destination TV commercial using electroencephalography (EEG). The results showed that participants who watched the commercial had stronger emotional responses to the pictures after watching compared to before, while no such effect was observed in the control group. There were no significant effects found in the self-report data.
