The Impact of the Internet on Industrial Green Productivity: Evidence from China

Binbin Yu

Summary: This paper empirically investigates the impact and spatial spillover effect of Internet development on Industrial Green Total Factor Productivity (IGTFP) using the Dynamic Spatial Durbin Model (DSDM) and Chinese panel data. The results show that Internet development significantly promotes improvements to IGTFP in the region and surrounding areas, with the long-term effect being greater than the short-term effect. Mechanism tests indicate that Internet development can promote IGTFP through both industrial structure upgrading and technological innovation, with the intermediary effect of technological innovation being more significant. These research conclusions remain valid after conducting a series of robustness tests, providing empirical evidence for the implementation of the Internet+ action plan and the popularization and application of the industrial Internet in China.

Asymmetric inter-linkages between green technology innovation and consumption-based carbon emissions in BRICS countries using quantile-on-quantile framework

Asif Razzaq et al.

Summary: The study reveals that in BRICS countries, green technology innovation has a significant emission-reducing effect at high emission quantiles, while it is weakly or positively correlated with carbon emissions at low emission quantiles. Conversely, high carbon emissions instigate green innovation across medium to high emission quantiles. The results suggest that when a country has higher emissions levels, green technology innovation can help mitigate carbon emissions.

Renewable energy investment risk assessment in belt and road initiative countries under uncertainty conditions

Ali Hashemizadeh et al.

Summary: The research identified and categorized investment risk factors of renewable energies in the Belt and Road Initiative countries using the TODIM method, weighted by the F-ANP method, and ranked different renewable energy sources using COPRAS, MABAC, and GRA methods under uncertainty conditions. The results indicated that wind energy has lower investment risk and higher economic justification compared to other renewable energy sources.

Green growth and low carbon emission in G7 countries: How critical the network of environmental taxes, renewable energy and human capital is?

Lin-Na Hao et al.

Summary: Through theoretical and empirical analysis, this study finds that green growth can reduce CO2 emissions, while environmental taxes, human capital, and renewable energy use can also decrease CO2 emissions. GDP growth has a negative impact on environmental quality, but green growth helps sustain environmental quality.

Does renewable energy consumption reduce ecological footprint? Evidence from eight developing countries of Asia

Rajesh Sharma et al.

Summary: The study explores the impacts of per capita income, renewable energy, life expectancy, and population density on the ecological footprint in eight developing countries of South and Southeast Asia from 1990 to 2015. The results show that renewable energy has significantly reduced the ecological footprint, while population density has led to increased pollution emissions. Additionally, the association between per capita income and ecological footprint is found to be N-shaped.

Distributional predictability between oil prices and renewable energy stocks: Is there a role for the COVID-19 pandemic?

Shawkat Hammoudeh et al.

Summary: This study reveals that oil returns influence renewable energy stock index returns in normal market conditions, but not in extreme market conditions. Additionally, renewable energy sector stock returns do not predict oil returns under any market conditions, however, there is a significant bidirectional causality between oil price volatility and renewable energy stock volatility at lower quantiles.

Investigating the asymmetric linkages between infrastructure development, green innovation, and consumption-based material footprint: Novel empirical estimations from highly resource-consuming economies

Asif Razzaq et al.

Summary: Reliable resource consumption measurement is crucial for climate policy, with this study examining the linkages between infrastructure development, green innovation, and consumption-based material footprint in highly material-consuming countries. The study rejects data normality and uses Method of Moments Quantile Regression to handle non-normal data, revealing varying effects of infrastructure development and economic growth on resource consumption across different quantiles. Population shows an inverted-U relationship with material footprint.

Unveiling the asymmetric impact of exports, oil prices, technological innovations, and income inequality on carbon emissions in India

Zhilun Jiao et al.

Summary: In a developing country like India, foreign trade can have both positive and negative impacts on carbon emissions. The study reveals that an increase in exports and technological innovation leads to an increase in carbon emissions, while a decrease in exports, higher oil prices, and increased income inequality can help reduce carbon emissions in the long run. The findings suggest the need for a balanced approach in economic development and environmental protection.
