Evaluating the impacts of shared automated mobility on-demand services: an activity-based accessibility approach

Bat-hen Nahmias-Biran et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of shared automated mobility technologies on future urban transportation, using a simulation of a Singapore micromodel city testbed. The findings show that city-wide deployment of automated mobility services can improve accessibility and network performance for city residents, with a significant impact on low-income individuals.

From 2SFCA to i2SFCA: integration, derivation and validation

Fahui Wang

Summary: The research discusses the impact of uneven distributions of population and service providers on geographic disparity in access for residents and varying workload for staff. By integrating the 2SFCA and i2SFCA methods into one conceptual framework, we can comprehensively understand the geographic variability of resource allocation and facility crowdedness.

A Review of Recent Spatial Accessibility Studies That Benefitted from Advanced Geospatial Information: Multimodal Transportation and Spatiotemporal Disaggregation

Jinwoo Park et al.

Summary: Spatial accessibility is crucial for understanding spatial disparity and guiding decision-making in infrastructure placement. Research has traditionally focused on empirical findings, distance decay functions, and threshold travel times, but there is a need to further explore the benefits of dynamic variables in accessibility studies. Methodological advancements and recent trends in multimodal accessibility and temporal changes in accessibility present opportunities for improved accuracy in measurements and policy implications. Geographers are called upon to actively engage with these dynamic variables and strengthen the link between accessibility research and policymaking.

Space-time prism in multimodal supernetwork- Part 1: Methodology

Jing Qin et al.

Summary: Space-time prism (STP) modeling provides a theoretical foundation for person-based space-time accessibility measures. This study suggests an effective method for narrowing down trip chaining space in multimodal transportation networks, resulting in significant speedups without compromising measurement accuracy. Experimental tests demonstrate the method's effectiveness in large-scale multimodal transportation networks.

Spatial distributions of job accessibility, housing rents, and poverty: The case of Nairobi

Shohei Nakamura et al.

Summary: Workers in Nairobi face low job accessibility due to the long distance between residential locations and job opportunities. Poor households and residents living in informal settlements are even more limited. Living closer to job opportunities is expensive in Nairobi, impacting the housing choices of low-income households.
