A Review of Field Measurement Studies on Thermal Comfort, Indoor Air Quality and Virus Risk

Christina Kakoulli et al.

Summary: People spend most of their time indoors, where the indoor environmental quality (IEQ) significantly impacts their health, comfort, productivity, and well-being. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the importance of field measurement studies to understand and control the impact of IEQ on occupants' health. This study provides an overview of the influential factors, such as Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), thermal comfort, and virus transmission risk, followed by a comprehensive review of field measurement studies conducted over the past two decades. The aim is to identify key characteristics, common outcomes, correlations, insights, and gaps, serving as a foundation for future field measurement studies.
