Exploring positive and negative teachers' attitudes towards inclusion of children with disabilities in schools in Trinidad: implications for teacher education

Bephyer Parey

Summary: The study found that some teachers have positive attitudes towards including children with disabilities, mainly based on humanistic beliefs and recognition of the benefits of inclusion. On the other hand, some teachers have negative attitudes due to perceived limitations for both disabled and non-disabled children, as well as lack of support for inclusion. Therefore, there is a need for professional development for in-service teachers and a mandatory pre-service training program for new teachers in Trinidad.
