Genetic and Environmental Contributions to Positive Affect: Insights from Adolescent Twins

Diane C. Gooding et al.

Summary: In this study, the relationship between the Anticipatory and Consummatory Interpersonal Pleasure Scale (ACIPS-A) and other measures of positive affect in adolescents was examined in a genetically informative research design. The results indicated moderate heritability for the ACIPS-A scale scores, and ACIPS-A was found to capture unique heritable contributions to social/interpersonal pleasure. The findings suggest that ACIPS-A has shared genetic variance with other measures of positive affectivity.
