Maintaining verbal short-term memory representations in non-perceptual parietal regions

Qiuhai Yue et al.

Summary: The study used fMRI and RSA to investigate the maintenance of phonological and semantic information in verbal short-term memory. The results suggest that phonological information is maintained in the left supramarginal gyrus, while semantic and phonological information may be stored in the left angular gyrus, providing support for the hypothesis of a dedicated buffer in phonological short-term memory.
