Compound sophorae decoction enhances intestinal barrier function of dextran sodium sulfate induced colitis via regulating notch signaling pathway in mice

Hui Wu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that Compound sophorae decoction (CSD) could significantly ameliorate clinical symptoms and pathological damage in mice with ulcerative colitis, reduce intestinal permeability, promote epithelial cell regeneration, and enhance colonic mucosal barrier function by regulating notch signaling.

β-1,3-D-Glucan based yeast cell wall system loaded emodin with dual-targeting layers for ulcerative colitis treatment

Xiulan Pu et al.

Summary: This study developed a foodsource-based nano-in-micro oral delivery system for ulcerative colitis (UC) treatment using yeast cell wall microparticles. By encapsulating emodin into lactoferrin nanoparticles and loading them into yeast cell wall microparticles, a dual-targeting strategy was applied to enhance the anti-inflammatory and mucosal repair effects of emodin. Cell uptake assessment confirmed the targeting ability of the system on intestinal epithelial cells and macrophages, leading to improved anti-UC effects compared to free emodin.

Monosexual Cercariae of Schistosoma japonicum Infection Protects Against DSS-Induced Colitis by Shifting the Th1/Th2 Balance and Modulating the Gut Microbiota

Hongli Zhou et al.

Summary: This study investigated the therapeutic effects of monosexual Schistosoma japonicum cercariae and dexamethasone on inflammatory bowel disease using a mouse model. The results showed that monosexual Schistosoma japonicum cercariae could alleviate clinical symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease and improve intestinal permeability by modulating the Th1/Th2 balance, Treg cell population, and reshaping the gut microbiota community.

Luteolin alleviates inflammation and modulates gut microbiota in ulcerative colitis rats

Bolin Li et al.

Summary: The study showed that luteolin significantly reduced colonic damage and inflammation in UC rats, and altered the diversity and composition of gut microbiota. The findings suggest that gut microbiota could serve as promising biomarkers for understanding how luteolin improves UC.

Heme-Oxygenase-1 Attenuates Oxidative Functions of Antigen Presenting Cells and Promotes Regulatory T Cell Differentiation during Fasciola hepatica Infection

Monique Costa et al.

Summary: This study revealed the regulatory role of HO-1 induced by F. hepatica and its immunoregulatory and antioxidant effects in fasciolosis. Through the activity of IL-10, Tregs and APC expressing HO-1 in mice were controlled during parasite infection. Further experiments showed that IL-10R neutralization and the use of HO-1 inhibitors protected mice from parasite infection.

Reductively modified albumin attenuates DSS-Induced mouse colitis through rebalancing systemic redox state

Xiawen Yang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that r-Alb effectively alleviates DSS-induced colitis through ?SH group-mediated antioxidative action. Unmodified Alb has less impact in this aspect, while complete loss of efficacy is observed after removal of ?SH groups.

Oxidative stress response in regulatory and conventional T cells: a comparison between patients with chronic coronary syndrome and healthy subjects

Anna K. Lundberg et al.

Summary: In patients with chronic coronary syndrome (CCS), T-reg cells are highly sensitive to oxidative stress, which may contribute to their reduction. Additionally, CCS patients' T-conv cells show higher sensitivity to oxidative stress and signs of oxidant-antioxidant imbalance.

Cancer-Preventive Role of Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells on Colitis-Associated Colorectal Cancer: Roles of Gut Microbiota Involved

Ruohang He et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that bone marrow-derived MSCs could migrate to the colon, inhibit chronic inflammation, and regulate gut microbiome dysbiosis to suppress the development of CAC. The inhibitory effect on tumor initiation and progression was observed by reduced tumor numbers, decreased tumor cell proliferation, and induced tumor cell apoptosis. MSCs also showed the ability to promote gut microbiome normalization and inhibit chronic inflammation.

The kinase PDK1 regulates regulatory T cell survival via controlling redox homeostasis

Peiran Feng et al.

Summary: The study revealed the crucial role of PDK1 in Treg cell homeostasis and function, with its deficiency leading to autoimmune disorders and disruption of iron ion balance. Modulation of certain pathways could partially rescue the survival of PDK1-deficient Treg cells.
