Short-brush NiFeOxHy films and the Pt derivative as high-performance electrode materials for efficient electrocatalytic water splitting

Xufang Chen et al.

Summary: A short-brush NiFeOxHy film with an edge-abundant, subcrystalline, and Ni3+-rich structure was designed and prepared on a Ni foam with a trace amount of Pt introduced to enhance water electrolysis performance. The short-brush NiFeOxHy film exhibited better OER activity than conventional nanosheets, while the Pt-modified materials showed effective HER catalytical activity. The alkaline electrolyzer composed of these electrodes required only 1.54 V to achieve a current density of 10 mA cm(-2).

Iron, rhodium-codoped Ni2P nanosheets arrays supported on nickel foam as an efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst for overall water splitting

Meng-Ting Chen et al.

Summary: In order to enhance the overall water splitting efficiency, low-cost, abundant, and efficient bifunctional electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) are highly attractive yet challenging. The Fe,Rh-codoped Ni2P nanosheets arrays exhibited excellent catalytic performance for both OER and HER, with a small voltage of 1.62 V to drive a current density of 10 mA cm(-2) for overall water splitting. This work provides an alternative option for fabricating advanced catalysts in electrocatalysis and energy devices.

An Efficient Turing-Type Ag2Se-CoSe2 Multi-Interfacial Oxygen-Evolving Electrocatalyst**

Xiao-Long Zhang et al.

Summary: A simple cation exchange approach was used to produce Turing-type Ag2Se on CoSe2 nanobelts, resulting in a material highly effective in catalyzing the oxygen evolution reaction. The intrinsic OER activity correlates linearly with the length of Ag2Se-CoSe2 interfaces, indicating that these Turing-type interfaces are the active sites for OER. The excellent OER performance is attributed to the optimized adsorption energies for critical oxygen-containing intermediates at the unconventional interfaces, as shown by X-ray absorption and computational simulations.

Spin Effect on Oxygen Electrocatalysis

Jisi Li et al.

Summary: The spin-related phenomena in ORR/OER have long been neglected, but recent studies reveal their close relationship with energy loss. By utilizing the exchange interaction in magnetic catalysts, a spin-selective channel can be established to filter electron spins with appropriate orientation, thus improving efficiency in the ORR/OER process.
