Multi-scale characterization of unconventional tight carbonate reservoir: Insights from October oil filed, Gulf of Suez rift basin, Egypt

Ahmed E. Radwan et al.

Summary: The Radwany Formation in the Gulf of Suez region has been newly identified as a potential reservoir rock with a combination of depositional and diagenetic processes creating various porosity types. Petrophysical evaluations and geochemical analysis have indicated the presence of unconventional and conventional hydrocarbon resources in this formation, particularly in the basal part, making it a valuable area for exploration. The study also highlights the importance of understanding the link between sediment microfacies and petrophysical parameters for predicting hydrocarbon potential in the area.

Experimental study on physical modeling of flow mechanism in volumetric fracturing of tight oil reservoir

Xinli Zhao et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the characteristics of oil-water two-phase flow after volumetric fracturing of horizontal wells in tight reservoirs. The results show that without an effective displacement system, the resistance of the horizontal well during waterflooding mainly acts on the oil-water interface. It is necessary to rely on imbibition or surfactants in the later stages to improve the recovery factor.

Wave Propagation in Infinituple-Porosity Media

Lin Zhang et al.

Summary: The theory developed in this study describes wave propagation in porous media with inclusions at multiple scales, derived from differential effective medium theory and Biot-Rayleigh theory for double-porosity media. The theory determines generalized stiffness and density coefficients based on the first principles of strain, kinetic, and dissipation energies, showing that anelasticity depends on various factors such as inclusion size, distribution parameter, mean radius, and variance. Experimental results confirm the model's validity in describing anelasticity observed in laboratory and field measurements.

Spontaneous imbibition in tight porous media with different wettability: Pore-scale simulation

Wei Lin et al.

Summary: The study systematically investigates the effects of wettability on the pore-scale flow physics during spontaneous imbibition. Results show that wettability significantly affects the morphological characteristics of the imbibition fronts and the recovery degree of nonwetting fluids.
