Microwave synthesis of single-phase nanoparticles made of multi-principal element alloys

Siyu Wu et al.

Summary: Metal nanoparticles of multi-principal element alloys with a single crystalline phase have been successfully synthesized by microwave-enabled flash heating/cooling method. This approach provides a new way to synthesize single-phase MPEA nanoparticles of many metal combinations under the appropriate conditions of water-in-oil micelle systems and metal precursor reduction reactions.

Effect of the Oxygen Vacancies in CeO2 by the Ce3+ Incorporation to Enhance the Photocatalytic Mineralization of Phenol

Sandra Mendez-Salazar et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that the mineralization of phenol by Ce3+-doped CeO2 via photocatalysis at room temperature is effective. The enhancement of photocatalytic activity by Ce3+ was attributed to the formation of oxygen vacancies, promoting the generation of radical species O-2(.-) which play a key role in inducing the mineralization process of pollutants.

Enhancement of Scattering and Near Field of TiO2-Au Nanohybrids Using a Silver Resonator for Efficient Plasmonic Photocatalysis

Maosong Liu et al.

Summary: The recent application of localized surface plasmon resonances (SPRs) in metallic nanoparticles has led to the construction of plasmonic nanohybrids for heterogeneous photocatalysis. By encapsulating an Ag NP core with SiO2 and TiO2 layers, and Au NPs on the outer surface, an efficient plasmonic photocatalyst, Ag@SiO2@TiO2-Au, has been designed to enhance catalytic activity. The structure unit with strong scattering and field enhancement induced by a plasmonic resonator is shown to significantly boost photocatalytic activity for high H-2 production rates under visible light.
