Interpretation of HFTS 2 Microseismic Data Using Bedding-Plane-Slip Mechanism

Yunhui Tan et al.

Summary: This study aims to understand the generation of microseismic events during hydraulic fracturing and the role of geomechanical conditions in this process. By analyzing data from the Hydraulic Fracturing Test Site (HFTS) 2 experiment, three unique observations were made, and the hypothesis that the bedding-plane-slip model is likely the mechanism for microseismic generation was proposed. A quantitative relationship linking microseismic event magnitude with fracture width increment and layer mechanical property contrast was also provided.

Physical Simulation of Hydraulic Fracturing of Large-Sized Tight Sandstone Outcrops

Tiankui Guo et al.

Summary: Natural fractures (NF) play a key role in determining the morphology of hydraulic fractures (HF) in tight sandstone reservoirs, affecting the propagation path of HF based on factors such as NF quantity, angle, and cementation strength, as well as the horizontal differential stress. Different horizontal stress levels lead to varying fracture patterns, with NF influencing the formation of complex fractures.
