Long-term dynamics of plant communities after biological remediation of oil-contaminated soils in far north

A. B. Novakovskiy et al.

Summary: The long-term dynamics of plant communities after bioremediation of oil-polluted soils were studied. The study found a shift of communities from pioneer to stable states, with no significant impact of remediation type on vegetation recovery rate. After 12 years, all methods led to a decrease in oil content and vegetation cover recovery. High community productivity under harsh northern conditions was observed with certain effective plant species for phytoremediation.
