Sensors and Actuation Technologies in Exoskeletons: A Review

Monica Tiboni et al.

Summary: Exoskeletons, which closely interact with humans, have been increasingly used for rehabilitation, assistance in daily activities, performance augmentation, and haptic devices. This review investigates the research activity on exoskeletons with a focus on sensor and actuation technologies. The study analyzes the temporal distribution of scientific publications and the characteristics of exoskeleton designs, actuation methods, and sensors. The development and trends of exoskeleton actuation and sensing solutions are also examined.

Electrocorticography to Investigate Age-Related Brain Lateralization on Pediatric Motor Inhibition

Chao-Hung Kuo et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the development of response inhibition in children through subdural electrocorticography recording. The results showed that neural activities were more activated in No-Go trials than in Go trials, with higher theta and HG power in the right inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) region. The study also observed an age-related lateralization to the right side in pediatric populations.

Ankle Joint Torque Estimation Using an EMG-Driven Neuromusculoskeletal Model and an Artificial Neural Network Model

Longbin Zhang et al.

Summary: This article compared the performance of predicting ankle joint torques using EMG-driven neuromusculoskeletal (NMS) model and artificial neural network (ANN) model, finding that the NMS model generally outperformed the ANN model in predicting ankle joint torques with some exceptions. The study highlighted the importance of detailed comparative analysis in determining the most suitable model for exoskeleton control strategies.
