The effect of innovation-driven development on pollution reduction: Empirical evidence from a quasi-natural experiment in China

Kang Gao et al.

Summary: This study, based on the national innovative city policy, constructs a quasi-natural experiment and uses PSM and DID models to explore the impact of innovation-driven development on pollution reduction. The results show that the national innovative city policy has a positive effect on pollution reduction, but the effects vary, with larger cities showing smaller reductions and larger manufacturing scales and financial support for science and technology leading to more significant reductions in pollution. The mechanism of pollution reduction shows a non-linear trend as pollution emissions intensity increases.

Chuluunbat Tsendsuren et al.

Summary: This study examined the impact of product market competition and managerial competency on corporate environmental responsibility and firm performance.
