m6A-Atlas: a comprehensive knowledgebase for unraveling the N6-methyladenosine (m6A) epitranscriptome

Yujiao Tang et al.

Summary: N-6-Methyladenosine (m(6)A) is the most prevalent RNA modification on mRNAs and lncRNAs, and m(6)A-Atlas is a comprehensive knowledgebase for unraveling the m(6)A epitranscriptome. It features a high-confidence collection of m(6)A sites and quantitative epitranscriptome profiles, offering novel features like conservation among vertebrate species and potential pathogenesis inference from disease-associated genetic mutations. The user-friendly interface allows for querying, visualization, and sharing of annotated m(6)A epitranscriptomes.

Sunitinib and Imatinib Display Differential Cardiotoxicity in Adult Rat Cardiac Fibroblasts That Involves a Role for Calcium/Calmodulin Dependent Protein Kinase II

Calum J. McMullen et al.

Summary: Sunitinib and imatinib have differential effects on cardiac fibroblasts, with sunitinib causing marked changes in cell viability where imatinib had no effect. Both drugs increased mitochondrial superoxide production, but this effect could be reversed by a CaMKII inhibitor.

Melatonin Alleviates LPS-Induced Pyroptotic Cell Death in Human Stem Cell-Derived Cardiomyocytes by Activating Autophagy

Ya Qiu et al.

Summary: In this study, we demonstrated that melatonin (Mel) protects human stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs) from pyroptosis during endotoxemia by activating autophagy. This antipyroptotic effect of Mel was accompanied by decreased release of LDH, increased cell viability, and inhibition of pyroptotic markers such as NLRP3 and cleaved caspase-1. Additionally, Mel reversed the decrease in autophagosomes observed in LPS-injured hiPSC-CMs, highlighting the potential therapeutic role of Mel in endotoxemia-induced cardiomyocyte injury.

m6A Modification: A Double-Edged Sword in Tumor Development

Runnan Gao et al.

Summary: m6A modification, the most abundant mRNA modification, plays diverse roles in eukaryotes and is closely associated with tumor pathways and cancer prognosis. Imbalance of m6A regulators may contribute to tumor development, while restoring m6A modification balance could serve as a novel anti-cancer strategy.
