The magnetic field on a nanofluid flow within a finned cavity containing solid particles

Abdelraheem M. Aly et al.

Summary: The ISPH method is used to analyze the effects of a magnetic field on thermosolutal convection of solid particles spreading within a finned cavity. The simulations show that solid particles tend to move towards the upper part of the cavity and the fins on the upper wall play a role in adjusting the spread of the particles. The blending between solid and fluid particles is influenced by an increase in the Hartman parameter, while the Soret and Dufour numbers reduce the blending of solid particles within a nanofluid flow.

Experimental study on thermophysical properties of water-based nanoemulsion of n-eicosane PCM

C. J. Ho et al.

Summary: The thermophysical properties of water-based nanoemulsion of n-eicosane were experimentally measured in this study. Results showed that higher mass fraction of n-eicosane suspensions within the phase change region led to higher latent heat value and specific heat. Additionally, as the temperature increased, thermal conductivity improved, but decreased significantly during the melting process of n-eicosane suspensions.

Summary: The increasing production of greenhouse gases and fossil fuels prices are driving decision-makers in communications to implement energy sources more efficiently. Greenhouses play a significant role in food production and require improvements in heating systems, with the possibility of reusing waste heat through PCM explored in this study. The use of PCM HRS can significantly reduce gas consumption and lead to energy savings that return the initial investment within four months.

Double rotations between an inner wavy shape and a hexagonal-shaped cavity suspended by NEPCM using a time-fractional derivative of the ISPH method

Abdelraheem M. Aly et al.

Summary: A transient two-dimensional ISPH method based on the time-fractional derivative was used to model thermosolutal convection of NEPCM in an annulus, exploring the effects of various parameters on temperature, heat capacity, concentration, and velocity fields. The study found that double rotations and frequency parameters significantly impact nanofluid speed, while an increase in Rayleigh number enhances nanofluid movements within the annulus.

Heat transfer enhancement of nano-encapsulated phase change material (NEPCM) using metal foam for thermal energy storage

W. Q. Li et al.

Summary: The Foam/NEPCM composite material enhances thermal energy storage by combining the thermal enhancement of metal foam and latent heat absorption of NEPCM, resulting in lower wall temperature and more uniform internal temperature compared to pure NEPCM. The study also found that the lower porosity Foam/NEPCM composite has lower heated wall temperature and internal temperature near the heated wall due to its higher thermal conductivity and area/volume ratio.

Summary: The study analyzes the rate of change of thermal and flow transfer inside an enclosed box under the effect of thermal radiation and convective flow driven by buoyancy force. Different positions of the heater and cooler on the sidewalls of the region are varied to examine the heat transfer rate. The results show that the middle location of the partial heater/cooler in the cavity produces enhanced heat transfer rate.

Mixed convection analysis in a split lid-driven trapezoidal cavity having elliptic shaped obstacle

S. Saqib Shah et al.

Summary: This study explores the thermal performance of nanofluid enclosed by a split lid-driven trapezoidal cavity with an elliptic shaped obstacle. Various parameters such as Richardson number, Lewis number, Reynolds number, and buoyancy ratio are analyzed for their effects on velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles. The findings indicate that Lewis number has a significant impact on isotherms and concentration, while smaller buoyancy ratios result in maximum heat transfer near the lid walls.
