Nano-silica and magnetized-silica mitigated lead toxicity: Their efficacy on bioaccumulation risk, performance, and apoptotic targeted genes in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

Maher N. Alandiyjany et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of SiMag and SiNPs on pb toxicity in Nile tilapia. The results showed that at specific doses, SiMag and SiNPs improved growth and feed conversion ratio in fish and increased serum antioxidant enzyme levels. After pb exposure, SiMag and SiNPs groups maintained adequate levels of biomarkers and significantly reduced pb content in the fish. Additionally, SiMag and SiNPs downregulated the expression of P53 in liver and gills, and reduced histopathological damage. Therefore, SiMag and SiNPs not only mitigate the negative impact of pb toxicity in fish, but also ensure their safety for human consumption.

Boosting Antimicrobial Activity of Ciprofloxacin by Functionalization of Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles

Blanca de Juan Mora et al.

Summary: In this study, two nanomaterials based on mesoporous silica nanoparticles immobilized with ciprofloxacin were prepared and characterized for their structures and antimicrobial activities. The nanomaterials showed promising antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, and Klebsiella pneumoniae, with higher activity than the precursor and neutral ciprofloxacin.

Ciprofloxacin-Loaded Gold Nanoparticles against Antimicrobial Resistance: An In Vivo Assessment

Afrah Nawaz et al.

Summary: Ciprofloxacin-loaded gold nanoparticles showed enhanced antibacterial activity against Enterococcus faecalis in mice, effectively eradicating the bacteria without causing hemolysis. They present a promising and biocompatible alternative therapeutic for infections resistant to conventional drugs. Further research is warranted.

Protective Effects of Cinnamaldehyde on the Inflammatory Response, Oxidative Stress, and Apoptosis in Liver of Salmonella typhimurium-Challenged Mice

Renjie Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that cinnamaldehyde alleviates Salmonella typhimurium-induced liver injury in mice by reducing inflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis. The beneficial effects of cinnamaldehyde may provide a preventive strategy for liver injury caused by Salmonella typhimurium infection in both humans and animals.
