The Relationship of Morphological-Hemodynamic Characteristics, Inflammation, and Remodeling of Aneurysm Wall in Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysms

Qingyuan Liu et al.

Summary: The study focused on the important pathological characteristic of aneurysm wall remodeling (AWR) in intracranial aneurysms (IAs) and identified key factors related to AWR, inflammation levels, and atherosclerosis in IA tissues. Biomechanical stress and inflammation in aneurysm wall were found to be correlated, providing potential pathological evidence for IA development.

Treatment of basilar artery stenosis with an Apollo balloon-expandable stent: a single-centre experience with 61 consecutive cases

Tang Lingtao et al.

Summary: This retrospective study introduces the experience with the Apollo balloon-expandable stent for patients with symptomatic basilar artery stenosis in China. The technical success rate was 100% with a low complication rate. The stent-related stroke or death rates were relatively low, but some patients experienced restenosis.

Hemodynamic Characteristics Associated with Recurrence of Middle Cerebral Artery Bifurcation Aneurysms After Total Embolization

Jinlong Yuan et al.

Summary: The study aimed to identify the hemodynamic characteristics associated with the recurrence of middle cerebral artery bifurcation aneurysms (MCABAs) after total embolization using computer fluid dynamics (CFD) method. The results showed that higher wall shear stress (SAWSS, MWSS) and flow velocity at the aneurysm neck post-embolization might be related to the recurrence of bifurcation IAs, which could be useful for clinical post-embolization management in evaluating bifurcation IAs recanalization.

Non-Newtonian Blood Modeling in Intracranial Aneurysm Hemodynamics: Impact on the Wall Shear Stress and Oscillatory Shear Index Metrics for Ruptured and Unruptured Cases

Iago L. Oliveira et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the influence of different rheology models on hemodynamic parameters related to aneurysm formation, growth, and rupture. Results showed that the differences between non-Newtonian and Newtonian models were consistent across all cases, with an overestimation of peak systole WSS by more than 50% in the non-Newtonian models. However, the surface-averaged OSI was underestimated by more than 30% in the non-Newtonian models.

The Relationship between the Strength Characteristics of Cerebral Aneurysm Walls with Their Status and Laser-Induced Fluorescence Data

Elena Tsibulskaya et al.

Summary: This study found a statistically significant difference in the strength characteristics of cerebral aneurysms through mechanical and spectroscopic measurements, and established a linear regression model to describe the relationship between the peak size of one component and the magnitude of ultimate strain and stress. This research provides a basis for the non-invasive determination of the strength characteristics and status of cerebral tissue aneurysms.
