Do-Yang Park et al.

Summary: The Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Korean Rhinologic Society have developed a clinical practice guideline for nasal irrigation in adult patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). This guideline addresses the knowledge gaps, practice variations, and clinical concerns associated with nasal irrigation. Evidence-based recommendations were developed and the guideline focuses on the most important quality improvement opportunities.

Biologics for severe uncontrolled chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps: a change management approach. Consensus of the Joint Committee of Italian Society of Otorhinolaryngology on biologics in rhinology

Eugenio De Corso et al.

Summary: Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a complex inflammatory disease of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses, which requires local and systemic treatments. Biologic agents may offer supplemental therapy for difficult-to-treat CRSwNP patients, leading to improvements in the disease.

Predictors of Disease Control After Endoscopic Sinus Surgery Plus Long-Term Local Corticosteroids in CRSwNP

Eugenio De Corso et al.

Summary: This study aimed to predict disease control of CRSwNP treated with ESS and local corticosteroids by preoperatively evaluating the type and load of inflammation and selected clinical factors. Results showed that patients with higher eosinophil and neutrophil counts preoperatively had poorer postoperative disease control. The preoperative inflammatory pattern was significantly associated with poor control, with eosinophilia having the highest relative risk.

Treatment options for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps

Dana V. Wallace

Summary: The management of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps is evolving with a focus on treating underlying type 2 inflammation. Current treatment recommendations include long-term use of intranasal corticosteroids, surgical intervention, and the role of biologics. However, there are still uncertainties and debates in some aspects of treatment, requiring further research to establish the best therapeutic approaches.

Summary: This study aimed to create Consensus Guidelines based on current evidence and treatment costs, specifically defining the use of biologics in the treatment pathway for CRSwNP. Recommendations were made based on disease severity, treatment history, and comorbidities to identify patients who would benefit from biologics.

ARIA-ITALY multidisciplinary consensus on nasal polyposis and biological treatments

Summary: Recent studies have shown a link between type-2 inflammation, nasal polyposis, and severe asthma, leading to the development of biological drugs that can treat both conditions. Clinical trials on monoclonal antibodies for severe asthma have also shown promising results in treating nasal polyposis. A document endorsed by Italian Scientific Societies provides provisional guidelines for the use of monoclonal antibodies in treating polyposis, making it the first nationwide endorsed document on this topic.
