Preparation and characterization of PVC/CsxWO3 composite film with excellent near-infrared light shielding and high visible light transmission

Keshun Su et al.

Summary: The study focused on designing a transparent polyvinyl chloride (PVC)/CsxWO3 composite film for heat insulation, which demonstrated high NIR blocking and visible light transmittance. The composite films showed superior insulation to traditional thin films in indoor sunlight simulation and outdoor cooling experiments, while maintaining mechanical properties with increasing CsxWO3 slurry content. The PVC/CsxWO3 composite films present a promising solution for improving energy efficiency in buildings.

Controllable Design of Bifunctional VO2 Coatings with Superhydrophobic and Thermochromic Performances

Rui Sun et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a simple and controllable method to prepare hexagonal periodic array VO2 thin films with excellent thermochromic performance. The hexagonal cellular-structured surface shows potential for integration of superhydrophobic and thermochromic properties without the need for post-treatment using low-surface-energy chemicals, making them promising for application in multifunctional smart windows. Additionally, the dependence of thermochromic and wettability performances on the VO2 structure was investigated based on the Cassie-Baxter mode and finite-difference time-domain calculations.

Influence of dopant valence on the thermochromic properties of VO2 nanoparticles

H. Guo et al.

Summary: The valence of dopants affects the thermochromic properties of VO2 nanoparticles by breaking the structural symmetry and changing the crystal structure. Lower valence dopants narrow the optical band gap, leading to improved luminous transmittance and solar energy modulation ability. Co-doping with W/Zr and W/Mg can simultaneously enhance phase transition temperature, luminous transmittance, and solar energy modulation ability in VO2 films, providing a potential solution for smart windows manufacturing.
