Engineering a NiAl-LDH/CoSx S-Scheme heterojunction for enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Yanan Liu et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel strategy to enhance photocatalytic water splitting through the construction of a CoSx/NiAl-LDH heterojunction. The unique three-dimensional structure of NiAl-LDH promotes the growth of CoSx and facilitates the transfer of photogenerated electrons, while maintaining the strong oxidation ability of the holes. The hydrogen production rate of the CoSx/NiAl-LDH heterojunction is significantly higher compared to individual CoSx and NiAl-LDH.

S-scheme bimetallic sulfide ZnCo2S4/g-C3N4 heterojunction for photocatalytic H2 evolution

Chenxuan Wang et al.

Summary: Transition bimetallic sulfides have shown superior electrochemical characteristics compared to their parent materials, with ZnCo2S4/CN exhibiting significantly enhanced photocatalytic water splitting activity. The presence of zinc and cobalt ions in ZnCo2S4 lowered the H-2 evolution overpotential and charge recombination rate, leading to excellent H-2 release activity. Trapping experiments confirmed the S-scheme charge transfer route between ZnCo2S4 and CN, demonstrating a promising bimetallic sulfide heterojunction for enhancing H-2 evolution during water splitting.
