The U-plane of rank-one 4d N = 2 KK theories

Cyril Closset et al.

Summary: The study examines the U-plane and Seiberg-Witten (SW) curve of the simple non-trivial 5d superconformal field theories with E-n flavour symmetry. It classifies all possible Coulomb branch configurations for the E-n theories and their 4d descendants, and explores the global form of the flavour symmetry group. Special points in parameter space are investigated, such as those where flavour symmetry enhances and where specific theories appear.

Coulomb and Higgs branches from canonical singularities. Part 0

Cyril Closset et al.

Summary: This paper mainly discusses the five-dimensional and four-dimensional superconformal field theories arising from canonical threefold singularities in M-theory and Type IIB string theory. It studies their Coulomb and Higgs branches, and proposes a relation between the resulting moduli spaces through compactification, mirror symmetry, and gauging. By applying this framework, it determines the Higgs branches of some 5d SCFTs and their magnetic quivers. Finally, it also computes the higher-form symmetries of the 4d and 5d SCFTs.

Higher-form symmetries of 6d and 5d theories

Lakshya Bhardwaj et al.

Summary: The paper describes general methods for determining higher-form symmetry groups of known 5d and 6d superconformal field theories (SCFTs) and 6d little string theories (LSTs). It delves into the complexity and subtleties arising from the interaction of BPS excitations and gauge group centers in describing the 1-form symmetry of these theories. Furthermore, it discusses ways to determine the 2-form symmetry group of 6d theories using the Green-Schwarz coupling associated with the theory.

Connecting 5d Higgs branches via Fayet-Iliopoulos deformations

Marieke van Beest et al.

Summary: In this paper, the authors investigate the transformation of the Higgs branch geometry of 5d superconformal field theories under movement along the extended Coulomb branch. They establish a correspondence between Fayet-Iliopoulos deformations in 3d and 5d mass deformations, and utilize this correspondence to establish a local version of mirror symmetry in cases where the Higgs branch has multiple cones characterized by a collection of magnetic quivers. Several detailed examples of deformations, including decouplings and weak-coupling limits, are provided for various conformal matter theories.

Magnetic quivers from brane webs with O7+-planes

Mohammad Akhond et al.

Summary: We explore the Higgs branch of 5d fixed points engineered using brane webs with an O7(+)-plane, proposing rules to extract magnetic quivers and calculating the Coulomb branch Hilbert series of these quivers. In some cases, alternative magnetic quivers can be obtained using ordinary brane webs or brane webs with an O5-plane, with a matching Hilbert series found.

(5d RG-flow) trees in the tropical rain forest

Marieke van Beest et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the generation process of 5d SCFTs from 6d SCFTs, including the decoupling of hypermultiplet matter, RG-flow, and the construction of decoupling trees. By using the approach of generalized toric polygons, magnetic quivers and Hasse diagrams of 5d SCFTs are systematically derived, and the Higgs branches of various 5d KK-theories and their descendants are computed.

Do all 5d SCFTs descend from 6d SCFTs?

Lakshya Bhardwaj

Summary: Researchers have presented examples of 5d SCFTs as counter-examples to a conjecture, and proposed a revised version of the conjecture which suggests obtaining all 5d SCFTs by integrating out both BPS particles and BPS strings from 6d SCFTs.

Flavor symmetry of 5d SCFTs. Part II. Applications

Lakshya Bhardwaj

Summary: In this series of papers, a general method for determining the flavor symmetry of 5d SCFTs has been described and applied to explicitly determine the flavor symmetry of those 5d SCFTs. When these 5d SCFTs reduce to 5dN = 1 gauge theories upon a mass deformation, their flavor symmetry is often enhanced at the conformal point.

Summary: A class of 5d superconformal field theories can be constructed by integrating out BPS particles from 6d SCFTs compactified on a circle. The flavor symmetry of these 5d SCFTs can be extracted using geometric engineering in M-theory.

5d and 4d SCFTs: canonical singularities, trinions and S-dualities

Cyril Closset et al.

Summary: Canonical hypersurface singularities in M-theory and Type IIB string theory lead to 5d and 4d superconformal field theories (SCFTs), respectively. This paper focuses on a specific class of 'trinion' singularities in Type IIB, which give rise to 4d N = 2 SCFTs known as Dpb(G)-trinions. Reducing these 4d and 5d SCFTs to 3d N = 4 theories helps determine their electric and magnetic quivers.

Fibre-base duality of 5d KK theories

Andreas P. Braun et al.

Summary: The study investigates circle compactifications of 6d superconformal field theories that lead to 5d rank 1 and rank 2 Kaluza-Klein theories. By including explicit dependence on bare gauge couplings and mass parameters, an accurate parametrisation of the prepotential including all parameters of the field theory is achieved. The resulting geometries exhibit a fibre-base duality, relating their six-dimensional origin to the purely five-dimensional quantum field theory interpretation.
