Understanding the low voltage losses in high-performance non-fullerene acceptor-based organic solar cells

Jakob Hofinger et al.

Summary: Despite recent improvements in power conversion efficiency (PCE) of non-fullerene acceptor (NFA) based solar cells, organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices still exhibit larger voltage losses compared to their inorganic counterparts. This study focuses on understanding and reducing the voltage losses in high performance NFA-based solar cells, highlighting the benefits of using Y6 acceptor for lowering voltage losses. Two design strategies are suggested based on experimental results to further enhance the performance of OPV systems.
