A reinforcement method of floor grouting in high-water pressure working face of coal mines: a case study in Luxi coal mine, North China

Minglei Zhai et al.

Summary: The working face in North China Coalfield is seriously threatened by a high-water pressure limestone aquifer in the coal seam floor. Mine water control has become a major problem in coal mine production. This study focuses on grouting transformation for limestone aquifer in the Luxi coal mine. Results showed that the traditional grouting method had limited effectiveness and could change water flow paths. Poorly sealed drill holes also led to changes in the position of water-rich areas. A secondary grouting-reinforcement method was proposed to enhance grouting efficiency.

Effect of wetting-drying cycle on hydraulic and mechanical properties of cemented paste backfill of the recycled solid wastes

Dan Ma et al.

Summary: The study shows that with increasing wetting-drying cycles, the porosity and permeability of CPB samples increase, with those having smaller particle size distribution and cementing strength being more sensitive. The uniaxial compressive strength and elastic modulus of CPB samples deteriorate during wetting-drying cycles, especially for those with smaller particle size distribution and cementing strength. The deterioration process of mechanical properties of CPB samples due to wetting-drying cycles can be divided into initial deterioration and re-deterioration stages, with the periodic destruction of the cemented structures verified through microstructure analysis.

Experimental Study on the Flow Behavior of Grout Used in Horizontal Directional Drilling Borehole Grouting to Seal Mining-Induced Overburden Fractures

Jinfeng Ju et al.

Summary: The use of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) technology for grouting and sealing water-conducting fractures induced by coal mining is an effective method for protecting groundwater resources. The study found that different types of fractures were sequentially exposed in different zones of the mining overburden, impacting the flow behavior and sealing performance of the injected grout. Further analysis led to a scheme for determining drilling horizons favorable for efficient fracture sealing.

Reutilization of gangue wastes in underground backfilling mining: Overburden aquifer protection

Dan Ma et al.

Summary: Gangue backfilling mining (GBM) can effectively alleviate gangue pollution and protect overburden aquifers. The hydraulic properties and deformation behaviors of granular gangues were studied, showing that these properties vary with the original grain size grade and stress rate. An improved model based on fractal dimension was found to have better accuracy in predicting permeability evolution compared to the traditional Kruger model.

Study on Seepage Simulation of High Pressure Grouting in Microfractured Rock Mass

Kai Wang et al.

Summary: In coal mine soft rock roadways, fractures in the surrounding rock are likely to be compressed and closed, forming undeveloped microfractures, which hinder conventional grouting support methods. By analyzing the fluid-solid coupling of microfracture grouting, the variation in fracture opening and slurry seepage distance can be quantitatively described. The grouting pressure and fracture opening changes are nonlinearly attenuated along the grout seepage direction, indicating a significant influence of fluid-solid coupling on grout seepage characteristics.
