Production and characterization of natural clay-free green building brick materials using water treatment sludge and oak wood ash

Maria Harja et al.

Summary: The experimental study investigates the feasibility of using wastewater treatment sludge and oak wood ash as raw materials in the manufacture of clay-free bricks. The properties of the bricks, such as water absorption, compressive strength, and thermal conductivity, were influenced by the proportions of the waste materials. The results suggest that the clay-free green bricks can meet standard requirements for clay masonry materials and exhibit properties similar to commercial bricks.

Environmentally-friendly ceramic bricks made from zeolite-poor rock and sawdust

Jamal Eldin F. M. Ibrahim et al.

Summary: The study investigated the utilization of zeolite-poor rock and sawdust as alternative materials to produce eco-friendly bricks, with analysis conducted on the characteristics of the ceramic specimens using various techniques. Results indicated that the addition of 8% sawdust led to reduced bulk density, increased porosity, decreased compressive strength, and lower thermal conductivity of the bricks.

Fuzzy-metaheuristic ensembles for predicting the compressive strength of brick aggregate concrete

Wafaa Mohamed Shaban et al.

Summary: This study developed three fuzzy-metaheuristic ensembles based on ANFIS for forecasting the compressive strength of brick aggregate concrete. Among the different models, the ANFIS-PSO model outperformed the hybrid GA and FFA models, with a correlation coefficient (R-2) of 0.913, a root mean square error (RMSE) of 0.057, and a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.032. The sensitivity analysis showed that the cement content and specific gravity of brick aggregates significantly influenced the model output.

The influence of burnt clay brick waste addition on recycled brick

Nfor Clins Wiryikfu et al.

Summary: This study aims to produce usable bricks by adding broken burnt clay bricks of various proportions and grain sizes to clay soil. The results show a decrease in density, water absorption, compressive strength, and flexural strength with an increase in burnt clay content. However, a small addition of burnt clay (20%) can reduce the loss in mechanical properties.
