Sulfide and sulfate saturation of dacitic melts as a function of oxygen fugacity

Jackie M. Kleinsasser et al.

Summary: Sulfur is a crucial element in terrestrial magmatic processes, but its geochemical behavior is intricate. This study investigates the sulfur concentration in silicate melts under different redox conditions through experimental data and modeling. The results indicate that the sulfur species transition from sulfide-dominated to sulfate-dominated in different types of melts depends on the oxidation state.

Apatite and Zircon Geochemistry in Yao'an Alkali-Rich Porphyry Gold Deposit, Southwest China: Implications for Petrogenesis and Mineralization

Yulin Zheng et al.

Summary: The Yao'an gold deposit is located in a metallogenic belt with many porphyry-type Cu-Au-Mo deposits. The study compared the geochemical differences of apatite and zircon from two types of porphyry in order to explore their mineralization potential. The results show that different mineral crystallization sequences and fluid activities affect the mineralization in the area.

Oxidized sulfur-rich arc magmas formed porphyry Cu deposits by 1.88 Ga

Xuyang Meng et al.

Summary: The study indicates that moderately oxidized, sulfur-rich arc magmas associated with porphyry Cu mineralization already existed in the late Paleoproterozoic, possibly due to the recycling of sulfate-rich seawater or sediments at that time.

Petrogenesis of volcanic rocks from Eastern Manus Basin: indications in mineralogy and geochemistry

Zhao Xia et al.

Summary: Investigation of pyroxene and plagioclase mineral phenocrysts geochemistry in basaltic andesites and dacites from the Eastern Manus Basin (EMB) provided insights into magma evolution history. The study revealed details about crystallization temperature and pressure ranges, as well as the dominant role of fractional crystallization in controlling magma composition.
