Quantum Machine-Learning for Eigenstate Filtration in Two-Dimensional Materials

Manas Sajjan et al.

Summary: This article introduces a quantum algorithm capable of filtering any energy eigenstate of a system based on either symmetry properties or user-defined choices, using a combination of neural networks and quantum circuits for computation with quadratic resource requirements. The algorithm is demonstrated to be effective in exploring the band structures of exquisite materials, providing a new alternative to traditional electronic structure methods or machine learning techniques.

Realizing topologically ordered states on a quantum processor

K. J. Satzinger et al.

Summary: The discovery of topological order revolutionized the understanding of quantum matter and laid the theoretical groundwork for quantum error-correcting codes. By preparing the ground state of the toric code Hamiltonian on a superconducting quantum processor, researchers were able to measure topological entanglement entropy and simulate anyon interferometry. Investigating aspects of the surface code, including logical state injection and the decay of nonlocal order parameter, showed the potential of quantum processors in studying topological quantum matter and error correction mechanisms.

Observation of a quantum phase transition in the quantum Rabi model with a single trapped ion

M. -L. Cai et al.

Summary: Quantum phase transitions occur in many-body systems with abrupt changes in the ground state at zero temperature. Here the study reports evidence of quantum phase transition in a single trapped ion described using quantum Rabi model.

Many-body thermodynamics on quantum computers via partition function zeros

Akhil Francis et al.

Summary: Partition functions play a crucial role in physics for determining thermodynamic properties and phase transitions of many-body systems. This study demonstrates a scalable approach for finding partition function zeros on quantum computers, showing a transition from XY-like behavior to Ising-like behavior with varying anisotropy. While quantum computers are not yet capable of reaching the thermodynamic limit, this work paves the way for future calculations of critical phenomena beyond classical computing limits.
