Seroprevalence and risk factors for Neospora caninum and Toxoplasma gondii in goats of Maranhao State, Brazil

Arlan Araujo Rodrigues et al.

Summary: This study examined the seroprevalence and risk factors for Neospora caninum and Toxoplasma gondii in goats in the state of Maranhao, Brazil. Risk factors significantly associated with N. caninum seroprevalence included age, type of sheepfold floor, rearing system, and various management practices, while risk factors for T. gondii infection included age, category, presence of other species, and purpose of breeding. This research provides crucial data for implementing strategies and control measures against neosporosis and toxoplasmosis in goats.
