Higher Leptin-to-Adiponectin Ratio Strengthens the Association Between Body Measurements and Occurrence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Pei-Ju Liao et al.

Summary: This case-control study in Taiwan investigated the interrelations of body measurements and selected biomarkers in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The results showed that certain body measurements and biomarkers were significantly associated with T2DM, with the calf-to-thigh ratio (CTR) having the strongest linear association. The study concluded that a combination of leptin and adiponectin could modulate the strength of the association between body measurements and T2DM, providing clues for high-risk group identification and mechanistic conjectures of preventing T2DM.
