Additivity effect on properties of cemented coal fly ash backfill containing water-reducing admixtures

Ibrahim Cavusoglu et al.

Summary: This study examines the effect of water-reducing admixtures on the characteristics of Cemented coal fly ash backfill (CCB) materials, showing that they can significantly reduce cement costs, improve properties of hardened backfills, and maintain quality during the entire process of handling CCB. Results demonstrate that the admixtures enhance pumpability, strength, and porosity of CCB samples, making them a viable option for efficient and effective backfilling solutions in mining operations.

Effect of steel slag and curing temperature on the improvement in technological properties of biomass bottom ash based alkali-activated materials

M. A. Gomez-Casero et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of incorporating black steel slag (BSS) into biomass bottom ash (BBA) on the synthesis of alkali-activated materials. It was found that adding up to 50% BSS resulted in alkali-activated cements with increased compressive and flexural strengths. These findings suggest that BSS could be a potential alternative to Portland cement in concrete production, leading to environmental and socio-economic benefits.

Effect of phosphate addition on room-temperature-cured fly ash-metakaolin blend geopolymers

Khairunnisa Zulkifly et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of NaOH concentration, solid-to-liquid ratio, and sodium silicate-to-sodium hydroxide ratio on the compressive strength development of fly ash-metakaolin blend geopolymers. The addition of aluminum phosphate as a source of aluminum was found to significantly enhance the physical and mechanical properties of the blend geopolymer.

Realization of high-percentage addition of fly ash in the materials for the preparation of geopolymer derived from acid-activated metakaolin

Haozhe Guo et al.

Summary: This study focuses on using fly ash to prepare high strength phosphoric acid-activated geopolymer by replacing metakaolin with a high percentage of fly ash. The addition of fly ash cenospheres optimized the geopolymerization process of metakaolin, maintaining the compressive strength at a high level. The findings demonstrate the feasibility of using fly ash for proper disposal and effective recycling.
