Comparison between cerebrospinal fluid and serum levels of myelin-associated glycoprotein, total antioxidant capacity, and 8-hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine in patients with multiple sclerosis

Summary: This study found that elevated TAC levels in serum and CSF samples and lower 8-OhdG levels in serum samples may be associated with the pathogenesis of MS. Further investigation is needed to consider these as potential therapeutic targets or markers for treatment.

Age-related magnetic susceptibility changes in deep grey matter and cerebral cortex of normal young and middle-aged adults depicted by whole brain analysis

Romana Burgetova et al.

Summary: The study revealed different patterns of iron deposition in the cerebral deep grey matter and cortex with aging. Cortical regions involved in motor, cognitive functions, and visual processing showed the highest increase in iron content with age. In deep grey matter structures, the highest increase in susceptibility values with age was observed in structures like the red nucleus, putamen, substantia nigra, etc.
